Researchers
provided sensitisation sessions to all health facilities in
the study districts, traditional birth attendants and community
members. Health workers were introduced to Newhints, the work
of the volunteers and the long-term goals of the intervention.
TBAs were encouraged that their work was important and that
their cooperation with CBSVs would be valuable to the community.
Community leaders were asked for consent and CBSVs were introduced
to all community members through a special event during which
volunteers were presented certificates of their qualifications
and training.
